Honoring Monseñor Oscar A. Romero’s Martyrdom with Salvadoran Cardinal Gregorio Rosa Chávez
In commemoration of Monseñor Oscar A. Romero’s profound legacy, Clínica Romero had the distinct privilege of hosting a significant visitor this year. Cardinal Gregorio Rosas Chavez, a trusted advisor to St. Romero and a steadfast advocate for the marginalized, graced our facilities with his presence. As a member of the collegiality advising Pope Francis, Cardinal Rosas Chavez blessed the Alvarado Clinic and reverently paid homage at the Memorial Plaza in MacArthur Park. His visit provided a poignant moment for reflection, underscoring the enduring impact of Clínica Romero’s 41 years of dedicated service to the community.
Throughout his time with us, Cardinal Rosas Chavez engaged deeply with our dedicated staff, community members, including those experiencing homelessness, transient individuals, health promotoras, local representatives, and Clínica patients. His genuine interest and compassionate interaction highlighted the profound significance of our work in serving the underserved. Witnessing firsthand the dedication and impact of Clínica Romero’s mission left a lasting impression on the Cardinal, reaffirming the importance of extending hope and support to those in need. Cardinal Rosas Chavez expressed heartfelt appreciation for our commitment and pledged to return in the future, offering spiritual solace and encouragement to our patients and the broader community we serve.
Clínica Romero March Highlights
In March, Clínica Romero embarked on a series of impactful activities, continuing our steadfast commitment to serving the community with excellence and compassion. Among the highlights, our San Fernando Valley Clinics took proactive steps to promote essential medical services, emphasizing family planning, women’s care, prenatal and postnatal care, as well as screenings for cervical and breast cancer, and pediatric care.

Vaccination Day
Moreover, our engagement extended beyond our clinic walls as we hosted a Vaccination event at the Salvadoran Consulate on Friday, March 8th. It was a day marked by service and support as our team administered a total of 70 vaccines, attending to the healthcare
needs of 35 individuals. The event saw a diverse range of vaccinations provided, including 32 flu vaccines, 13 tetanus shots, 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine, 8 pneumonia vaccinations, 7 shingles vaccines, and 7 COVID-19 vaccinations. This collaborative effort
exemplifies our commitment to promoting public health and wellness within the community, ensuring access to vital vaccinations for all who need them.
Site Visit with Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez
In March, Clínica Romero was also grateful to host Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez for a site visit at our Alvarado St. office. The visit was a pivotal opportunity to discuss strategies for investing and building a strong community in the Pico Union area, as
well as to review the ongoing renovations at our site.
Councilwoman Hernandez’s visit underscored the importance of collaboration between community organizations and local government in addressing the healthcare needs of underserved populations. During the visit, Councilwoman Hernandez engaged in discussions with
our team about the unique healthcare challenges facing the community and explored potential solutions for addressing them. We exchanged ideas on how to leverage resources effectively to enhance healthcare access, improve health outcomes, and promote overall
community well-being.
Additionally, Councilwoman Hernandez had the opportunity to tour our Alvarado St. office and review the renovations underway. These renovations are part of our ongoing efforts to modernize our facilities and create a more welcoming and accessible environment
for our patients. By upgrading our infrastructure, we aim to enhance the quality of care we provide and ensure that our facilities meet the evolving needs of the community.

Throughout the month of February, Clínica Romero’s Community Outreach and Civic Engagement Department demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to serving the community. One of the key initiatives they continued to support was the Shower of HOPE program, an endeavor that provides essential hygiene services along with clean clothes and nutritious meals to both patients and non-patients every Friday. This ongoing effort reflects Clínica Romero’s unwavering dedication to addressing the basic needs of individuals in the community.
