Clínica Monseñor Oscar A. Romero proudly announces that our President & CEO, Carlos Vaquerano, has been honored with the 2025 Monseñor Romero Award by COFECA, a leading coalition dedicated to preserving Central American culture and strengthening the voice of immigrant communities across the United States.

This award recognizes more than three decades of unwavering leadership and advocacy. Before joining the healthcare sector, Carlos was already a powerful force in the fight for justice — establishing himself as one of the most respected and influential Salvadoran advocates for human rights in the country. He has championed the dignity, safety, and rights of Salvadoran and Central American families, shaping civic engagement, community organizing, immigrant protections, and broader conversations around equity and access.

Today, under his leadership, Clínica Romero continues to expand its impact as a trusted anchor for the underserved and immigrants families. His commitment to culturally rooted care and strong community partnerships has positioned the clinic as a vital resource in Los Angeles.

“What I have done over the years comes from the legacy my brothers left me — to fight for the poor
and from the legacy that Monseñor Romero continues to drive me every day. I am deeply proud of the
work we are doing at Clínica Romero and the powerful efforts we lead alongside our community partners
for our immigrant families.”
– Carlos Vaquerano shared in his acceptance speech.

The 2025 Monseñor Romero Award was presented on November 23, 2025, in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Central Library.

For media outlets, civic leaders, and partners, this recognition highlights a key figure whose story reflects resilience, cultural pride, and a lifelong dedication to uplifting underserved families.
